Cities, counties, and states across the world began issuing stay-at-home orders this week for all but essential commerce and travel. With this level of national shutdown happening around the world many stoners have found themselves rushing to stock up for what’s to be our generations doomsday as dispensaries close.
Dispensaries close around the world and are stating they cannot keep up with demand and may have to prioritise medical cannabis consumers over recreational users due to the severity of some patient’s conditions. Aurora, one of the world’s largest commercial growers and dispensary brands reported sales of 2000kgs and up within a few hours of the COVID-19 epidemic being announced.
The Netherlands has experienced a similar increase in sales with lines reported to be reaching over a block at the more popular head shops around Amsterdam. With the majority of shops swapping over to a pre-booking system that requires customers to pre-order and pre-book their arrival at Headshops to minimize waiting times and streamline the distribution to medical patients over recreational ones.
Although this panic has created a rise in sales, there are still fears that many dispensaries may close with states and countries around the world possibly deeming dispensaries an essential service; which means by law they have to close in order to protect themselves and their customers.Â
