So here’s my love story…
Let’s start from the beginning shall we? It was a rainy and pretty miserable Saturday morning during the early days of February. I was on my way to breakfast to meet up with my father and a high school friend of his that he hadn’t seen in 30 years.Â
There’s a reason I was included in this reunion. The friend in question is an old pot smoking buddy of my fathers, and is now hard at work on a legal cannabis farm in Lesotho. I was invited due to my career in cannabis and saw this as a perfect opportunity for a bit of networking. I wanted to find out more about the legal industry that side, get some growing tips and hopefully hear some funny stories about my pops!
At the end of it, I drank too much coffee, ate well, learnt a lot and had a good chuckle. It was a successful morning, but it got better. Before hopping into the car, said friend pulled out a little bankie and handed it to me, as smooth as can be, during our farewell handshake. I looked down at it and was immediately in awe of how beautiful this nug was. “What is it?â€, I asked, and “My homegrown Gorilla Glue #4†was the answer.Â
This was a strain I had never smoked before and I couldn’t wait to roll it up and give it a go! I carried on with my day, running some errands until the late afternoon. Once the day had mostly come to an end I settled down with my lady. Comfy on the couch with Netflix buzzing in the background, I pulled out the bankie along with my rolling kit. It was time to get down to business.Â
I opened up the bankie and I was immediately met with a burst of sour and peppery notes. Looking at the nug it was dense and trimmed neatly, so I popped it straight into the grinder, mauled it up and rolled myself a gorgeous little jiggy. I stepped outside and got straight to toking – and it went down like an absolute treat! From that first pull right down to the roach, I savoured every smooth puff. I could tell immediately that this was grown with a lot of love and professionalism – from the seed to harvesting and curing. Just the toking of this strain was an experience.Â
I finished my jiggy, went back inside to make myself and my lady some tea before turning my attention back to the TV. This was the last time I stood up that evening. I haven’t experienced relaxation like that in a very long time! This is a hybrid strain but lends itself more towards the calming side of the spectrum and is known for heavy handed euphoria and relaxation – which I experienced to the fullest! I felt all my stress and worries melt away as I just sunk deeper and deeper into the couch, lulled by the soothing commentary of Night on Earth. I experienced plenty of cerebral happiness and heavy bodily relaxation. The strain just made me so unbelievably happy and chilled – like I didn’t have a worry in the world.Â
I savoured the high for the next couple of hours, until I slowly dozed off, into one of the deepest sleeps I’ve had in ages.Â
I woke up the next morning, still solidly glued to the couch. No grogginess or porridge brain was noted as I made my morning coffee. I walked outside to a beautiful Sunday morning, and reminisced about the night before. Man oh man, I think I’ve fallen in love with this strain. This was a high I will never forget, and will spend many weeks chasing – which makes it worthy as my Strain of the Month. I doubt I will be able to replicate this experience again, but there is no doubt that I will make it my mission to source quality seeds for Gorilla Glue #4 (now more commonly known as Original Glue) and be well prepared for the next growing season.
If you ever get the chance to toke on this strain – you have a Stoner Steve’s personal thumbs up.Â
If you ain’t chokin’, you ain’t tokin’
